About image compression

At our default of 80, images look identical to the original at normal viewing distances. The compare slider lets you verify pixel-by-pixel before downloading. If you need perfect fidelity, slide to 100; if size matters more than quality, try 50-60.
For photos, WebP and AVIF beat JPG by 25-50% at equivalent quality. For graphics with sharp edges or transparency, stick with PNG or WebP. AVIF is the newest format and offers the best compression but is slower to encode.
Verify it yourself: open your browser's DevTools (F12), go to the Network tab, then compress an image. You'll see zero outgoing requests with image data. All processing uses your browser's built-in image APIs. The live counter in the bottom right of this page shows network activity in real time.
